No inglês o verbo "to be", ou simplesmente "be", equivale a "ser" e "estar" em português.

I am a doctor. (Eu sou um médico.)
I am in the kitchen. (Eu estou na cozinha.)

I am = Eu sou/estou
You are = você é/está
He is = ele é/está

They are = eles, elas ou algumas coisas são/estão
Contraction form of the verb "to be".
Muitas vezes a forma contraída é usada. A escrita e a pronúncia mudam mas não há diferença quanto ao significado.
